Overview

The Algorithms in Structural Bioinformatics (AlgoSB) school focuses on novel or recent approaches in structural bioinformatics in the largest sense. Leading researchers from institutes around the world are invited to provide lectures together with hands-on practical courses. A fundamental goal of the school is to facilitate an algorithmic view of these ideas in order to identify new research directions.
AlgoSB is aimed at bringing together scientists from different disciplines (computer science, biophysics, biochemistry, mathematics, …) in a pleasant setting amenable to learning new approaches and creating synergies for future work.

This year's edition:

The focus of AlgoSB 2021 is "Machine Learning Methods to Analyze and Predict Protein Structure, Dynamics and Function" (more details are provided on the lectures page). It will be held from November 7 to 12, 2021, at the Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (CIRM), located within 15 min walking distance to the world-reknowned Calanques de Marseille. This year's school has received the label "Ecole Thématique" from the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Each day of the school will consist of a theoretical course in the morning (from 9 a.m. to noon) and practical work in the evening (from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Free time in the afternoon can be devoted to informal discussions between participants, which can be combined with outdoor activities (hiking, running, rock climbing, …) to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

To allow an ealy departure, the last pratical session on Friday 12 will be scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

NOTE: In case of mobility restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school will take place virtually.
